World Doctors Alliance Call COVID-19 Just Like Influenza, Wiku: Misinformation Content
JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Task Force (Task Force) Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito emphasized the statement of the World Doctors Alliance in the video that said COVID-19 was the same as the common cold disease was misinformation.
"I want to clarify the video of the World Doctors Alliance's statement regarding COVID-19. It is important for the public to know that the content on the video distributed by the world community alliance group is in the form of misinformation," Wiku said in a press conference broadcast on a YouTube account, Tuesday. , October 27th.
He explained, so far there are three categories of misinformation in society. First, misinformation about general beliefs.
"Second, misinformation about conspiracy theories. The third is misinformation of religious beliefs," he said.
"So, the information in this video (video of the Alliance of World Doctors, red) can be identified as misinformation that appears by equating COVID-19 with influenza," he added.
Wiku explained that people don't need to believe in this. Because influenza and COVID-19 are clearly different from the dynamics of the transition and its consequences.
In addition, Wiku also reminded the public to evaluate the credibility of the information they receive, especially if it is related to COVID-19.
At least, there are a number of institutions that can be used as a reference for information related to this virus.
"There is the World Health Organization, UN, Center of Disease Control and Prevention or CDC. Especially in Indonesia, of course there are reliable sources, namely the Ministry of Health and the Task Force for Handling COVID-19," he concluded.
