Troubling, Ratu And Rangga Sunda Empire Sentenced To 2 Years In Prison

JAKARTA - The Panel of Judges at the Bandung District Court (PN) sentenced three officials of the fictional Sunda Empire empire, each with a sentence of two years in prison.

"The defendant deliberately caused a conflict in the Sundanese community, and it would cause conflict between pro and contra people," said chairman of the panel of judges T Benny Eko Supriyadi, at the Bandung District Court, Jalan LL RE Martadinata, Bandung City, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, 27 October.

The three defendants were top officials of the fictional empire, namely Nasri Banks as prime minister, Raden Ratna Ningrum as queen, and Raden Rangga Sasana as general secretary.

The decision, according to the panel of judges, was in accordance with the first indictment which was legally and convincingly proven to have violated Article 14 paragraph 1 of Law Number 1 Year 1946.

The verdict has been through mitigating and burdensome considerations. According to the judge, what was burdensome was that the actions of the defendants were considered to be troubling for the public, especially the Sundanese people.

What is mitigating is that the defendants are polite during the trial, have never been convicted, and the defendants have a good intention to create world peace.

"And the defendants have no economic motive in this case," said the judge.

The verdict is half and lower than the charges submitted by the West Java High Prosecutor's Office. Prosecutors previously demanded the three defendants to be sentenced to four years in prison.
