KIP Banda Aceh Proposes 2024 Regional Head Election Budget Of IDR 31.56 Billion, Most Allocation To Ad Hoc Institutions

BANDA ACEH - The Independent Election Commission (KIP) of Banda Aceh City has proposed a budget for regional head elections (pilkada) in 2024 amounting to Rp31.56 billion.

Head of Banda Aceh City KIP Indra Milwady said the proposed budget was the same as that proposed for the 2022 Pilkada, but the implementation was canceled because it was synchronized in 2024.

"We have submitted the budget for the 2024 mayoral and deputy mayoral elections to the Banda Aceh City Government. We hope that the budget can be approved," Indra Milwady said in Banda Aceh, quoted from Antara, Friday, June 17.

Indra Milwady said the proposed budget also needed to be updated because it was adjusted to the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Especially now that there is leeway related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"In our proposed budget, there is personal protective equipment. However, because the pandemic has decreased, it is possible that the personal protective equipment budget is not needed. However, we are seeing the development of COVID-19," said Indra Milwady.

Most of the pilkada budget needs are for ad hoc institutions, such as the District Election Committee (PPK) and the Voting Committee (PPS). The needs of these ad hoc institutions are almost 50 percent of the total budget.

In addition, he continued, the election budget needs for socialization, updating voter data, election logistics such as ballots, voting needs, technical guidance, and other activities.

"Pilkadas are held simultaneously throughout Indonesia. The voting day is set for November 27, 2024. The regional elections will be held separately from the legislative and presidential elections. The legislative and presidential elections will be held on February 14, 2024," said Indra Milwady.
