Judge: Heru Hidayat Uses Jiwasraya For His Fun At The Casino
JAKARTA - The panel of judges stated that the owner of the Maxima Group, Heru Hidayat, had used the Jiwasraya customer money to spend his time gambling at the casino.
"The defendant used the proceeds of corruption for his gambling spree, while Jiwasraya's insurance customers, who were very large in number, could not receive the benefits of the savings that were collected little by little, thus losing confidence in insurance," said Chief Justice Rosmina at the Corruption Crime Court (Tipikor). Jakarta, reported by Antara, Tuesday, October 27.
In this case, the panel of judges sentenced Heru Hidayat to life imprisonment and an obligation to pay compensation amounting to Rp10,728 trillion for being proven to have committed corruption in the management of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya's funds and money laundering.
In a description of the considerations, the panel of judges stated that Heru Hidayat used current accounts to pay for casino gambling in Singapore, New Zealand and Macau.
"That is true that the defendant Heru Hidayat placed money at Bank BCA with a current account number 3863008979 for the purpose of paying for casino gambling," added the judge.
The casino gambling payments are:
a. On 24 March 2015 to pay the MBS casino (Marina Bay Sands) in the amount of IDR 912 million. B. On 18 June 2015 to pay the MBS casino (Marina Bay Sands) in the amount of Rp.690 million. C. On 14 December 2015 to pay for the RWS (Resort World Sentosa) casino in the amount of IDR 900 million. D. On 23 December 2015 to pay for the RWS (Resort World Sentosa) casino in the amount of IDR 500 million. On 22 January 2016 to pay for the MBS (Marina Bay Sands) and RWS (Resort World Sentosa) casinos in the amount of IDR 1 billion. On 17 March 2016 to pay for the RWS (Resort World Sentosa) casino in the amount of IDR 500 million. On 29 April 2016 to pay the MBS casino (Marina Bay Sands) in the amount of IDR 500 million. H. On May 16, 2016 to pay for the RWS (Resort World Sentosa) casino in the amount of IDR 500 million. On 7 June 2016 to pay for the Sky City casino in New Zealand in the amount of IDR 3.5 billion. On 8 June 2016 to pay for the Sky City casino in New Zealand in the amount of IDR 1.5 billion. On August 9, 2016, to pay for the RWS (Resort World Sentosa) casino in the amount of Rp1.47 billion. On 6 September 2016, IDR 2.2 billion to pay for the MGM casino in Macau. On 23 November 2016, IDR 5 billion was used to pay for the MGM casino in Macau. On July 19, 2013 in the amount of Rp. 11.07 billion to pay off debt at the casino in Macau. O. On July 22, 2013, a total of IDR 10,044 billion was used to pay off the casino debt in Macau.
