Anies' Five Years Leading DKI, Djarot Saiful Hidayat: There Are No Prominent Achievements Except For The Stadium

JAKARTA - Soon, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan will end his term of office on October 16, 2022 after leading the capital city since 2017.

Looking at the five years of Anies' leadership, former Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Djarot Saiful Hidayat views Anies as having no outstanding achievements, except for building and inaugurating the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).

"I don't see any outstanding achievements except yesterday that the stadium in Jakarta was inaugurated," said Djarot when met at Kramat Jati Market, East Jakarta, Thursday, June 16.

The history of this international-class development dates back to the era of Governor Fauzi Bowo or Foke. Foke determined the construction of JIS on BMW Park grounds in 2009. After removing illegal buildings there, the construction plan began.

Then in 2014, President Joko Widodo, while still serving as the Governor of DKI Jakarta, again launched the construction of a stadium in BMW Park. However, that time did not go smoothly. The construction of the BMW stadium is still hampered by land disputes until the leadership of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat.

When Anies served as Governor of DKI, in order to fulfill his campaign promise in the 2017 Pilgub DKI, planning for the construction of the stadium was continued. Anies changed his name to Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).

For this matter, this member of the DPR RI appreciates Anies' steps in realizing JIS development. "We appreciate it because our time is not sufficient," said Djarot.

Returning to Anies' five years, Djarot also mentioned the plan to build a waste processing facility, namely the Intermediate Treatment Facility (ITF) in Sunter and several other areas that are still stalled.

The discourse on the development of the Sunter ITF has actually emerged since the era of Fauzi Bowo as Governor of DKI. At that time, the Sunter ITF had not yet been carried out and the plan was continued when Joko Widodo took office.

In fact, the groundbreaking process for the Sunter ITF has also been carried out many times by each of the previous governors. However, the construction process has not yet been implemented.

"One more homework, the waste management that we have planned for a long time has not materialized. It has been planned in several places but has not materialized. What is the problem, I do not understand," he said.
