Sri Mulyani Listen To Nadiem, Ministry Of Finance Meetings Will Be Held Outside School Hours

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati plans to change the schedule for internal meetings at the Ministry of Finance to be held outside school hours so that employees who are also parents can accompany children when studying online.

"Now the meeting at my ministry is not allowed during school hours, so office hours can be more flexible," he said as quoted by Antara, Monday, October 26.

According to him, the plan was carried out after receiving a report from the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Finance which stated that there was a level of stress when working at home during the pandemic.

The reason, he continued, was because the employees had to meet with their superiors, but at the same time their children also needed assistance when studying online.

"They have competing time in the morning when they have to zoom in with their boss, their children go to school where they need assistance," he said.

Sri Mulyani chose that the meeting agenda could be held after school hours between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

That way, he said, at least parents including millennial parents have time, for example, when preparing for remote classes such as ensuring an internet connection to accompanying their children to study online.

Apart from being based on a report from the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Finance, Sri Mulyani said that she wanted to change the schedule of the meeting after hearing the story from the Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim who was also present at the webinar.

According to Nadiem, the most important factor in the distance learning process is the involvement of parents.

"I am a full time minister, I am full time with three children. I find time for my children, to read, discuss and play with them, anytime, in the middle of zooming, if I have half an hour, I immediately play with them, "said Nadiem Makarim.
