PLN Needs Funds Of IDR 17.96 Trillion To Realize A 100 Percent Electrification Ratio, Most Flows To Sumatra And Kalimantan Regions

JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) stated that it needed a capital injection of IDR 17.96 trillion to achieve a 100 percent electrification ratio and provide equitable energy for all people in Indonesia. Currently, the electrification ratio has reached 99.5 percent.

"We hope that with the presence of electricity in these areas, there will be a multiplier effect through increasing employment, increasing tax payments and increasing the real sector economy, so that it can be a driving force for local economic growth," said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo. in a meeting with Commission VI DPR RI quoted by Antara, Wednesday 15 June.

The additional capital amounting to Rp17.96 trillion, with details for Java, Madura, and Bali areas amounting to Rp2.03 trillion; Sumatra and Kalimantan Rp9.93 trillion; and Sulawesi, Maluku, Nusa Tenggara, and Papua Rp 6 trillion.

Currently, PLN has taken a corporate action of Rp. 196.8 billion to support the creation of a 100 percent electrification ratio in Indonesia.

In 2023, PLN will receive an injection of funds from the government through state capital participation (PMN) of IDR 10 trillion. The funds will be used to push the national electrification ratio to 100 percent.

The PMN of Rp 10 trillion, said Darmawan, will be allocated as much as Rp 2 trillion to optimize electricity supply in Java, Madura and Bali with infrastructure development. Then, PNM as much as Rp 4.5 trillion will be allocated to build a transmission linking hydropower to remote areas in Kalimantan.

PLN has also budgeted IDR 3.5 trillion to build new renewable energy plants based on MHP, PLTA and PLTMG, and transmissions that connect electricity in remote areas.

"The presence of PMN is present as an embodiment of justice, where PLN builds energy infrastructure throughout the archipelago, especially underdeveloped, remote areas and is the embodiment of Indonesia's sovereignty on the borders between countries," said Darmawan.
