Prepare For A Safe Holiday With Children With 4 Tips From Caca Tengker
JAKARTA - School holidays are almost here. Of course, many parents are currently planning a vacation with their family by visiting various tourist destinations.
As a mother of two who is also planning a vacation, psychologist Alsi Mega Marsha Tengker aka Caca Tengker shares tips for a fun and safe vacation with children.
1. Discuss vacation destinations together According to the younger siblings of the artist Nagita Slavina, the first thing to do is discuss vacation destinations together by involving children.
"Because, the lesson from the previous vacation, we took them to mall to mall and then saw the goods so they were very consumptive. Because Ansara was also very interested in seeing these things, and I forgot to communicate the purpose of our vacation, so he had a lot of unwanted wishes fulfilled and then annoyed," said Caca as quoted from ANTARA, Wednesday, June 15.
Caca said that when they have a common goal, it is usually easier for her and her husband to remind each other.
"Because if we have our own goals, I want to do this shopping, my husband wants to explore it, it makes us easy to be distracted when we see something. Meanwhile, if the goals are the same, for example bonding with children, we will definitely prioritize that need," he added.
2. Focus on accompanying children. Caca said that holidays can be a moment to increase bonding with children. For this reason, parents need to free their time from other things so they can focus on accompanying their children.
"Take free time really for the children. So not while thinking about our own shopping, or even thinking about work," said Caca.
"So during my children's school holidays, I also plan to be completely off from work. Really for bonding with children and increasing secure attachments with children. So don't just be physically present, but mentally as well," continued he.
3. Choose child-friendly tourist destinations. The thing that is no less important according to Caca when taking children on vacation is choosing child-friendly tourist destinations. Also make sure to watch the progress of COVID-19 cases in the destination city so that the holidays are safe.
"What are the regulations there regarding COVID-19, for example. Then how is the cleanliness, the culture is safe or not with children, then the place we want to visit is safe or not for children," said Caca.
4. Don't forget to rest. Finally, Caca reminded the importance of preparing time to rest. The reason, according to him, is that parents sometimes forget that their children need more rest time.
"When the child is tired, the child is tired, relax his activities to rest. Also remember our eating hours, children's mealtimes, as much as possible regularly and nutritiously," said Caca.
In addition, according to Caca, children also need time to adapt and feel comfortable in a new place.
"Sometimes, we are too ambitious. We want to go to one place and then stay in a hotel cheap for only three days. But the distance is two days. Adults may get used to it. But children need time to adapt, to feel comfortable, " he said.
