Elton John Made A Special Edition Barbie Doll
JAKARTA - Elton John was awarded the highest honor in the world of music. Today, Barbie dolls are made in his honor.
The legendary pop star collaborated with Barbie makers to create a doll that mimics her signature style. This is to mark 45 years since Elton John held a two-night soldout concert at Dodger Stadium in October 1975.
Barbie doll Elton John is wearing a striking rainbow bomber jacket bearing her name, as well as rainbow colored trousers and heels.
This Barbie doll also has a purple bowler hat and pink sunglasses, featuring Elton John's most instantly recognizable appearance.
"I've always loved and embraced fashion as a means of self-expression," John told People.
“My early memories of Barbie all involve fashion and even today, she still inspires our culture, not only in fashion but in art and music as well. His legacy, I believe, will continue forever. "
The 73-year-old pop star said she was deeply involved in choosing Elton John's Barbie wardrobe, and that she really enjoyed choosing her sunglasses.
"I have accumulated a fair collection of sunglasses over the years - I think over twenty thousand pairs," said John.
“While working with Barbie to create a head to toe look, I took inspiration from all of my favorite pairs that I have worn over the years, and imagined a pink Barbie. I think we did well with the last look. "
The doll will be sold on Barbie.com, as well as at stores such as Walmart, Amazon, and Target.
