Jokowi: Active Cases Of COVID-19 In Indonesia Are Lower Than World Active Cases
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has again announced that active cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia are lower than the number of active cases in the world. Based on his data, as of Sunday, October 25 the number of active cases in Indonesia is in the range of 16 percent.
"As of October 25, 2020, I recorded active cases in Indonesia at 16.08 percent. This is lower than the world average of 23.72 percent. This is very important to convey to the public," Jokowi said when opening a limited meeting. regarding the plan for the procurement and implementation of vaccinations to be held at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday, October 26.
In addition to announcing the number of active cases, Jokowi also conveyed the percentage of the death rate due to COVID-19 in Indonesia. Even though it has decreased, said Jokowi, the average number of cases ending in death is still slightly higher than the world average.
"Compared to last month, the average death rate in Indonesia also decreased from 3.83 percent to 3.41 percent, although this is still slightly higher than the world's death rate of 2.68 percent," he said.
Meanwhile, for the average recovery, said Jokowi, the percentage of Indonesia currently exceeds the world average, which is at 73.60 percent, namely 80.51 percent.
"I think these three things need to be known by all of us. So that the hard work done by all of us can actually produce the figures that I conveyed earlier," he said.
Previously, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released data on developments in handling COVID-19. Based on examination of 33,797 specimens, 3,732 new positive cases were found.
"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia reached 389,712 people," quoted from data from the Ministry of Health, Sunday, October 25.
Meanwhile, the number of recovered cases increased by 4,545, so the total was 313,764 people who recovered from COVID-19. Meanwhile, the number of cases died increased by 94 to become 13,299 people.
On the other hand, provincial data with the highest number of positive cases were in DKI Jakarta. Based on data, as many as 771 people in the capital have tested positive for COVID-19. So that the total residents who have been infected have become 100,991 people.
Then, other provinces with a high number of positive cases were still in West Java and Central Java. The two provinces have both added 356 positive cases.
Meanwhile, the province with the most recovered cases was also occupied by DKI Jakarta with 1,229 cases. Then, West Java with 467 cases and Central Java with 363 cases.
So far there are 6 provinces that have reported additional cases under 10. Among them, West Sulawesi, West Papua, and Bangka Belitung. Then, there are 2 provinces without positive cases, namely, West Kalimantan and North Maluku.
In addition, the number of specimens examined reached 4,327,144. In detail, as many as 4,245,714 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 81,430 specimens using molecular rapid tests (TCM).
"The number of positive results per number of specimens examined (positivity rate) was 14.3 percent," he wrote.
