Awaiting The Voice Of Baceprot 'Burning' Head In The Clouds

JAKARTA - The metal band in hijab, Voice of Baceprot, is confirmed to appear at the Head in the Clouds event. They complete the line-up previously announced by 88 Rising as the organizer, among others; Rich Brian, Joji, Niki, Higher Brothers, August 08, Chungha, Day6kilogram, Stephanie Poetri, and Dumbfounded.

"We are very happy to be part of the young people who have made this nation proud. See you on March 7," wrote Voice Of Baceprot on social media.

Head in the Clouds will be held March 7, 2020 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. Previously, the same festival was held in Los Angeles, United States on August 17, 2019. At that time, Rich Brian, Niki and Stephanie Poetri were Indonesian ambassadors.

When not joined in the Voice Of Baceprot (baceprot in Sundanese means 'nagging' or 'noisy'), Firrda Kurnia (vocals, guitar), Euis Siti Aisyah (drums), and Widi Rahmawati (bass) first played the rock line and funk like songs from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In 2014, the three of them took music classes at their school in remote Garut, West Java and formed Voice Of Baceprot through the guidance of their music teacher, Cep Erza. This is where the love of metal music starts to scratch.

"When I first listened to metal music on Abah's laptop - the familiar greeting of Voice Of Baceprot personnel to Erza - like System Of A Down, Linkin Park and Slipknot, we just fell in love. It really felt like our personalities, rebell. us, "said Firrda one day.

However, the road chosen by Voice of Baceprot was filled with various obstacles. At that time, their parents strongly opposed their children appearing on stage playing metal music. They think, metal music is not in accordance with the characteristics of a Muslim woman who wears a hijab. Not to mention their principal who has a conservative understanding by calling music haram. Which means, music is prohibited in Islam

But Firrda, Siti and Widi ignored their parents' prohibitions and the oblique voices kept blowing around their eardrums. They continued to appear on stage secretly until finally they were able to form their own fan base. In fact, a video recording of one of their on-stage performances posted on the band's official Facebook page went viral.

Voice Of Baceprot is currently working on their first album. The album, which is also influenced by elements of Lamb of God music, will be released in the near future. But previously, they have released singles gradually, one of which is School Revolution which was released April 2018.

Stephan Santoso, who is known to be a reliable music producer in polishing rock and metal songs, became the producer for these three hijab teenagers. Stephan is also known as the guitarist for the band Musikimia.

Choosing to play metal music amidst the pros and cons that pervade every step is courageous. Voice Of Baceprot continues to advance and prove that the opinion of its opponents is a mistake. Don't believe it, we will prove it ourselves at the Head in the Clouds event next March.
