Tomorrow, Thousands Of Workers Will Protest The Revision Of The PPP Law In The DPR

JAKARTA - A group of workers who are members of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) will hold a demonstration in front of the DPR building, Wednesday, June 15 tomorrow. KSPI President Said Iqbal said that this action would involve nearly 10 thousand workers. Iqbal said that these thousands of workers would submit five demands, one of which was the rejection of the revision of the Law on the Establishment of Legislations (UU PPP).

According to Iqbal, there are several reasons why workers reject the revision of the PPP Law which regulates the Omnibus Law method. First, the discussion is carried out in a catch-up manner and does not see broad public participation.

"We received information that the revision of the PPP Law was only discussed for 10 days in Baleg. Even though the PPP Law is the mother of the law, where the birth of all laws must refer formally to the PPP Law. Imagine, such an important law is only made in 10 days," said Iqbal in his statement, Tuesday, June 14.

The second reason, said Iqbal, is that the revision of the PPP Law is considered legally flawed. This revision, according to him, is only a trick to justify the omnibus law as a method of forming laws.

Third, Iqbal suspects that the revision of the PPP Law will no longer involve broad public participation. "Public participation is simply defined as a discussion on campus. This is very dangerous because it does not provide space for the community," he continued.

In addition to holding the action, Iqbal said that his party would also submit a formal and material judicial review of the PPP Law to the Constitutional Court.

In addition to rejecting the PPP Law, the labor action will also convey the Omnibus Law on the Job Creation Law, reject the 75-day campaign period, urge the ratification of the PPRT Bill, and reject agricultural liberalization through the WTO.
