23 Khilafatul Muslim Suspects, Majority Join The Convoy And Spread Khilafah Understanding

JAKARTA - The National Police have named 23 people as suspects related to the Khilafatul Muslimin group. The majority of them followed the motorbike convoy which was accompanied by the distribution of leaflets calling for the caliphate.

"So far, the National Police have arrested 23 suspects," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Tuesday, June 14.

Dozens of suspects were arrested in different locations. Ramadhan also detailed, 6 of them were arrested by the Central Java Regional Police. Then, 5 people were taken into custody by the Lampung Regional Police

Then, one person was arrested by the East Java Police, 5 people were arrested by the West Java Police, and 6 other people were arrested by the Metro Jaya Police.

"(The majority were arrested) To people who joined the convoy, in the convoy of vehicles where the convoy distributed leaflets related to the call for the caliphate," said Ramadhan.

The arrests of dozens of suspects, continued Ramadhan, were because it was strongly suspected that the Khilafatul Muslimin wanted to spread false news and teach their ideology or ideology. Thus, it is considered contrary to Pancasila.

"Like the case handled at the Central Java Regional Police, this group carried out two-wheeled vehicle convoy activities and distributed pamphlets or leaflets in the form of information and advice and appeals," said Ramadhan.
