Illegal Parking Is Rampant At Tebet Eco Park, PSI Suggests DKI Provincial Government To Prepare Additional Parking Pockets

JAKARTA - The rise of illegal parking around the Tebet Eco Park area, South Jakarta, has become a complaint for residents. The existence of illegal parking attendants who use the road to the sidewalk often causes congestion.

Member of the PSI faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Eneng Malianasari, asked the DKI Provincial Government to use innovative methods such as providing additional parking pockets around the park, which was inaugurated by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan some time ago.

"We ask the DKI Provincial Government to use more innovative methods, such as adding more parking spaces at Pasar Tebet Barat or Pasad Tebet Timur," Eneng said in his statement, Tuesday, June 14.

In addition, Eneng continued, the DKI Provincial Government can also cooperate with Transjakarta to provide free transportation to and from the Tebet Eco Park from these parking lots.

"You can do it while promoting public transportation as well. The point is there are many ways to do it. It's just a matter of choosing which one you want," he said.

Regarding the handling of tire deflation of vehicles parked illegally by the DKI Transportation Department, Eneng asked not to do this.

"The DKI Provincial Government must be able to anticipate the density of visitors to Tebet Eco Park. But this anticipatory action should not be in the form of antipathy. It doesn't have to be detrimental to residents. Inflating tires is very detrimental. Should it be like that?" he said.

Previously, a resident named Ricky Siahaan who claimed to be a resident of Tebet complained about the condition of the Tebet Eco Park which was detrimental to local residents because it was disorderly and chaotic.

"Currently, my family and I are one of many sections of Tebet residents who have reached a point of frustration with the chaos caused by Tebet Eco Park," said Ricky Siahaan on his Instagram account rickysiahaan.

In his Instagram account, Ricky Siahaan views that the DKI Provincial Government is not mature in planning parking infrastructure to MSME stalls in revitalizing the park. So, what happened was that illegal parking attendants and street vendors selling without a permit became rampant.

"Illegal parking attendants who come from nowhere have made the road that was previously not allowed to park into a public parking lot. As a result, the road gets jammed every day. Worst case is on weekends and holidays," said Ricky Siahaan.

"Street vendors sell solidly without a permit right in front of people's homes. Due to the large number of merchandise, garbage is a daily problem for local residents," he continued.
