Reading Pledoi, Bribery Of Langkat Regent Holds Cry Confess Wrong: Allow Me To Apologize To Indonesian Citizens, Children And Wife
JAKARTA - Director of CV Nizhami Muara Warin Angin admitted that he had made a mistake by giving bribes to the Regent of Langkat.
"I know what I did was wrong, I didn't heed the government's program to eradicate corruption," said Muara while reading the memorandum of defense (pleidoi) at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor), Antara, Monday, June 13.
"On the other hand, if I don't pay a fee, how will I continue my work in the coming year and what will happen to my family and employees if I don't get a job next year? I regret all of this."
In this case, Muara Warin Angin was charged with bribing the inactive Langkat Regent. The issuance of the Warin Angin Plan amounting to Rp. 572 million in the construction of a number of work packages at the Public Works and Spatial Planning Service (PUPR) and the Langkat District Education Office in 2021.
"Let me convey a thousand apologies to the people of Indonesia, the people of Langkat, to my children, as well as my wife and extended family. Because of me, my family is embarrassed where I live and wherever it is," said Muara while sobbing.
Muara regretted his actions so that his extended family was embarrassed in their hometown of Langkat, North Sumatra.
"My detention prevented me from explaining many things to my wife and children. I could only pour out my heart into writing in a book. I summarized the writing into a letter addressed to my wife and children ," said Muara.
Muara admitted that he felt heavy because he thought about the fate of his family and employees as well as their families.
"Allow me to improve myself in the rest of my life. I ask for the lightest decision. To my children and wife, I also miss you, forgive my mistakes. May Allah SWT, God repay your kindness," added Muara.
In this case, the public prosecutor (JPU) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) demanded that Muara Warin get 2.5 years in prison plus a fine of Rp. 200 million, subsidiary to 4 months in prison.
The claim is based on the first indictment of Article 5 paragraph (1) letter b of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001.
The bribe was given so that the company owned by Muara became the winner of the tender in the project for the procurement of goods and services in Langkat Regency.
Muara Warin Angin is said to have received a direct appointment work package at the PUPR Service, namely a hotmix work package worth Rp. 2.867 billion; work packages for direct appointments, namely embankment rehabilitation, construction of fences and guard posts, construction of ring roads worth Rp971 million; as well as a direct appointment work package, namely the construction of SMPN 5 Stabat and SMP Hangtuah Stabat worth Rp.940.558 million.
On January 17, 2022, Muara met with Marcos and Isfi to ask for a reduction in the commitment fee to 15.5 percent and was approved by Iskandar so that the total that Muara had to submit was Rp572,221,414.00 and rounded up to Rp572 million.
Muara handed over Rp572 million on January 18, 2022, which was wrapped in black plastic to Isfi Syahfitra.
On the same day, Isfi and Shuanda handed over Rp572 million to Marcos to be given to Terbit Plan through Iskandar and they were secured by KPK officers along with evidence of money.
