Police Arrested Marbot Of Three Mosque Charity Boxes In Padang

PADANG - The Padang City Police, West Sumatra, arrested a marbot (mosque guard) with the initials HF (19) and his colleague, R, who allegedly stole three charity boxes at the Great Mosque of Nurul Ihsan, Alai Parak Kopi, North Padang.

The suspect, who is a marbot at the Andaleh Grand Mosque, East Padang, was arrested by the Klewang Satreskrim Team of the Padang Porlesta on Monday, June 13, at around 02.00 WIB.

"The suspect's actions by taking the three charity boxes caused the mosque to suffer a loss of around three million rupiah," said Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Padang Police, Kompol Dedy Adryansah Putra, as quoted by Antara.

From the suspect's hands, officers secured Rp. 1 million in cash which the suspect admitted to being stolen as well as a rental car unit that was used in the act.

In his action, HF was assisted by a colleague with the initials R, who was 17 years and 10 months old. Both have been detained by the police.

The police named the two perpetrators as suspects for the crime of theft accompanied by weighting with threats of Article 363 paragraph (1) 3, and 4 of the Criminal Code, in conjunction (Jo) of Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Criminal Justice System.

"We have detained the suspects, while the evidence is secured for the case investigation process," he said.

The case that ensnared the two suspects began when the marbot at the Nurul Ihsan Mosque as the case reporter was about to prepare for the dawn of the congregation.

At that time he did not find charity boxes in the mosque. Marbut Masjid Nurul Ihsan then checked the CCTV footage and found a man had taken two boxes inside the mosque and a charity box on the terrace at around 01.25 WIB.

Seeing the incident, the administrator of the Nurul Ihsan Mosque immediately made a police report so that it was followed up and disclosed.

Armed with this report, the Klewang Team led by the Head of the Opsnal Unit Ipda Adrian investigated the case of the theft of the three charity boxes.

From the results of the investigation, it was identified that the perpetrator lived on Jalan Garuda, Andaleh, East Padang, and also a marbot at the Andaleh Grand Mosque.

When questioned by the police, the perpetrator admitted that he stole the charity box at the Nurul Ihsan Mosque, Alai Parak Kopi.
