Pangandaran Earthquake Feels Up In Garut And Lake
JAKARTA - An earthquake centered on the Pangandaran sea shook other areas which were felt strongly by a number of residents in Pangandaran, Garut, Tasikmalaya and other areas.
As a result of this earthquake, residents rushed out of their homes for fear of damaging buildings. This is because the earthquake was felt quite strong.
"The earthquake felt strong, I immediately left the house," said a resident of Malayu Selaras Housing Complex, Ningrum, as reported by Antara, Sunday, October 25.
Apart from Ningrum, other residents in the same housing complex felt the strong shaking of the earthquake and then ran out of the house and gathered in the middle of the road.
The earthquake shocks, said Ningrum, caused panic, especially when I was traumatized by the previous earthquake in September 2009 in Tasikmalaya.
"The earthquake was so big it made me panic, and even my little child left it in the bathroom," he said.
Apart from Garut residents, several other residents reportedly panicked because the earthquake shocks were quite strong when they were inside the house.
A resident of Tasikmalaya City, Husna admitted, when the earthquake happened, he immediately ran out of the house along with other residents to save themselves from the danger of the earthquake.
"It felt 5-10 seconds, but it really felt like the vibration, I was sleeping, suddenly the bed shook, the door shook," he said.
In addition, residents on the coast of the south coast in Tasikmalaya Regency felt the same as the earthquake shock which was quite strong and lasted a few seconds.
A resident of the coast in Cipatujah Subdistrict, Yana Taryana, said that during the earthquake he and other residents left the house because they were worried that the house building would collapse.
"During the earthquake, the residents here all panicked, left their houses, some of them went to the beach to see the sea conditions, they were afraid of a tsunami," said Yana.
Yana conveyed that the panic of residents on the coast did not last long, residents returned to their homes after feeling calm and there would be no further aftershocks.
"It just so happened that it was raining here, so many returned to their homes and did their usual activities," said Yana.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said in its official broadcast that the earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 was located 90 kilometers southwest of Pangandaran Regency with a depth of 10 kilometers that occurred on Sunday at 07.56 WIB. This earthquake did not trigger a tsunami.
