A Scary Moment When Gunung Antang Thugs Scream For The Children Of The Al Barokah Mosque While Carrying A Machete
JAKARTA - The attack by a group of thugs with sharp weapons against residential areas on Jalan Kemuning, Bendungan, RT 05/01, Rawa Bunga Village, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta is tense.
According to information from residents at the scene, the attackers arrived carrying various types of sharp weapons.
"They are looking for the children of the mosque. (When they attacked, the perpetrator shouted) Where are the children of the mosque?," said WI, a local resident to VOI, Monday, June 13.
However, after the perpetrators did not find the mosque youths, they instead attacked the local residents.
"They aimlessly attacked residents. The victim with the initials SI was eating nasi uduk, RH was helping his mother trade nasi uduk and the other two were eating nasi uduk," he said.
WI explained that the perpetrators initially came looking for mosque children with high notes.
"They are looking for mosque children, but our residents are quiet, and the administrators here require that at 12 o'clock at night the children are no longer allowed to hang out in the area," he said.
Residents think the attack was the result of the arrest of a charity box thief at the Al Barokah Mosque on Jalan Kemuning, Rawa Bunga, Jatinegara, a few days ago.
The charity box thief admitted to working at a prostitution area in Gunung Antang, East Jakarta.
"Initially the theft of the charity box occurred about 10 days ago. He (the thief of the charity box) was one of the room guards at the Gunung Antang prostitution area," said WI, one of the residents to VOI at the location, Monday, June 13.
Furthermore, the case of the theft of the mosque's charity box was carried out by family mediation. The case of the theft of the charity box was declared completed after making peace.
"After peace, suddenly yesterday on June 12 at 02.00 in the morning, our area was attacked by the same group of people, who were suspected to be colleagues of the perpetrators of the theft of the mosque charity box," he said.
As a result of the attack, as many as four residents became victims of beatings and stabbing with sharp weapons.
The victim has made a police report regarding the beating to the East Jakarta Metro Police with the number LP/B/1274/VI/2022/SPKT East Jakarta Metro Police.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for East Jakarta Metro Police AKBP Ahsanul Muqqafi said his party was not aware of the incident.
"Please contact Kasat Sabhara. We have not monitored (reports of residents regarding the beatings)," he said when contacted by VOI, Monday, June 13.
