BANJARMASIN - A joint team from the Resmob of the South Kalimantan Police together with the Resmob Unit and the Economic Unit of the Semarang Polrestabes and the Crime Investigation Unit of the Tanah Bumbu Police arrested an expedition driver who fled a cargo worth of Rp1.1 billion.

"The suspect with the initials AFA was arrested at his hiding place in Simpang Empat Subdistrict, Tanah Bumbu Regency, Saturday, June 11," said Head of Sub-Directorate 3 of Jatanras Directorate of General Crime Investigation of the South Kalimantan Police AKBP Andy Rahmansyah in Banjarmasin, Antara, Sunday, July 12.

The reckless action of the perpetrators in taking away the cargo in the form of 505 rolls of textile raw material of the super yarn-dyed type occurred on Tuesday, April 12. It started with the perpetrator delivering an order for goods from a businessman in Jakarta, Rudi Suharsono, to CV Tiga Serampai Jaya in Semarang, Central Java.

The shipment of the ordered goods from Semarang to Jakarta was carried out on Tuesday using a fleet of trucks numbered B 9887 EUW and scheduled to arrive the day after.

However, as of Wednesday, April 13 at around 10:00 WIB, the ordered cargo carrier truck driven by the perpetrator had not yet arrived at the destination address.

After confirmation with the shipping company, it was discovered that a cargo truck was found in the Karawang area, West Java, with a cargo condition of Rp. 1.1 billion missing.

The victim immediately made a report to the Semarang Polrestabes. After investigating the case for 2 months, the police managed to detect the whereabouts of the perpetrator in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan.

"Now the suspect has been brought to Semarang, Central Java, to account for his actions," he said.

He was charged by investigators with Article 372 of the Criminal Code on embezzlement with a maximum prison sentence of 4 years.
