DKPP Will Immediately Determine The Fate Of Wahyu Setiawan
JAKARTA - The Honorary Board of Election Administrators (DKPP) said that after conducting an ethical hearing, his party will immediately hold a plenary meeting of the results of the trial so that the process of determining the fate of the former commissioner of the General Election Commission (KPU) who has stumbled on a bribery case can be immediately decided.
"After we have a trial this afternoon, hopefully in the near future, the plan is that this afternoon we will present the results of the trial," said Acting. Chairman of the DKPP, Muhammad at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, January 15.
This plenary meeting, said Muhammad, needed to be done because the decision regarding Wahyu's fate was based on the stance of the decisions of the seven DKPP leaders. He also explained that the ethics trial which was held at 14.00 WIB at the KPK building had nothing to do with Wahyu's resignation.
"Administratively, he resigned to the president, well, as long as the president has not issued a decree, the status of WS is still a KPU commissioner," he explained, adding that for this reason ethical checks must still be carried out.
Muhammad also said that the regulation stated that dismissal as a member of the KPU was based on three things. First, because he died, because he did not meet the requirements, and was dishonorably stopped.
"Being disrespectfully discharged is one of which is breaking an oath of promise or code of ethics," he said.
The presence of Wahyu Setiawan
As a defendant, the former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan has decided that he will attend the ethics hearing even though KPK investigators have given a choice whether he will attend or not.
"Even though as of January 10 I am no longer a member of the KPU, I have good intentions and respect for DKPP and will be present at the DKPP hearing," said Wahyu at the KPK building, Wednesday, January 15.
In the trial, he will explain the alleged violation of the code of ethics that he has committed in connection with the alleged bribery case for interim bribery (PAW) members of the DPR RI. "I have good intentions," he said.
Wahyu also said that the ethics trial would not present a defense at the trial. Because, he did not prepare any defense.
"It's not (preparing a defense), yes, naturally, I also don't understand, yes, I was asked what but the point is I respect DKPP," explained the former KPU commissioner.
Previously, Wahyu, who is currently detained at the Guntur Pomdam Jaya Guntur Detention Center, South Jakarta, was caught in a joint silent operation and was named a suspect in receiving bribes with his trusted confidant, namely Agustiani Tio Fridelina (ATF) who is a former member of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu).
In addition to determining Wahyu and Agustiani, the KPK also named two other suspects as givers of bribes. They are Harun Masiku (HAR) who is a candidate from the PDI Perjuangan in the 2019 Pileg from the South Sumatra I electoral district and Saeful who is called a private party but is suspected of being one of the party's top staff.
In this case, Wahyu allegedly asked for Rp900 million to appoint Harun as an interim replacement to replace Nazarudin Kiemas, a candidate who died. This transaction was carried out in two stages in the middle and end of December 2019.
