IDR 2.3 Billion In Cash Stored In An Iron Safe Was Also Confiscated By The Police During A Search Of The Khilafatul Muslimin Headquarters In Lampung
JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya confiscated Rp2.3 billion in cash belonging to the community organization Khilafatul Muslimin during a search in Bandar Lampung, Lampung, Saturday, June 11. The money was found stored in an iron vault at the Khilafatul Muslimin headquarters.
"We found several pieces of evidence, including we found four iron safes containing cash amounting to more than Rp. 2.3 billion," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Endra Zulpan, quoted by Antara, Sunday, June 12.
Endra added that investigators also found financial records belonging to the Khilafatul Muslimin community organization during the search.
"And we also found savings in the holding account book, then we also found data on the population of the Khilafatul Muslimin throughout Indonesia, which up to this afternoon, we have found numbering in the tens of thousands," said Zulpan.
Furthermore, Zulpan admitted that he was currently unable to provide further information regarding the origin of the Khilafatul Muslimin funds.
He said that investigators from the Polda Metro Jaya were still conducting developments regarding the discovery of the cash evidence.
"We will investigate that later, what is clear is that it was found in a safe at the Khilafatul Muslimin Headquarters and it was funds from this mass organization," said Zulpan.
