DKI BPBD Asks Residents To Beware Of Coastal Floods Until June 17
JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of DKI Jakarta Province asked the public to be aware of the warning from the Tanjung Priok Maritime BMKG regarding warnings for potential coastal flooding (rob) on June 11-17.
Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta Isnawa Adji said that during this period, according to information from the BMKG, the earth entered a full moon phase which coincided with perigee (the closest distance of the moon to the earth) which has the potential to result in an increase in the maximum sea level height.
"We urge people in the coastal areas of DKI Jakarta to be aware of the increase in the maximum tidal height which has the potential to cause coastal flooding, especially in Pademangan, Penjaringan, Sunda Kelapa Harbor and the Thousand Islands," Isnawa said as quoted by Antara, Saturday, June 11.
Isnawa added that the public should always monitor the latest information about sea waves through the page: bpbd.jakarta.go.id/geombanglaut.
"If you find an emergency that requires help, immediately contact the Jakarta Alert 112 Call Center," he said.
The public is also advised to always be vigilant and alert to anticipate the impact of the maximum tide of sea water and pay attention to warnings and maritime weather information from the BMKG.
The public can get the early warning through: BMKG Maritime Tanjung Priok Call Center: 0813 1676 0711; Facebook: Tanjung Priok Maritime Meteorological Station; Instagram: @bmkgpriok @infobmkg @bmkgmaritim; Twitter: @bmkgpriok @infobmkg; and Website: maritime.bmkg.go.id.
