1,000 New Textbooks Created By Teachers In Surabaya
SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Education Office published 1,000 books by teachers in commemoration of Teacher's Day and the Birthday of the Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) in 2020.
"We want to provide space for teachers to continue to innovate and unleash creative potential and ideas. That way, these teachers can continue to develop themselves," said Head of the Surabaya City Education Office, Supomo in Surabaya, Saturday.
In addition to publishing books written by teachers, he said, the agency is preparing to organize seminars for the scientific forum of teachers and educational staff as well as various competitions, including writing competitions, art competitions, and sports competitions.
The sports competition, according to him, includes creative gymnastics competitions for kindergarten (TK), elementary and junior high school (SMP) teachers as well as badminton, volleyball and table tennis competitions.
Kindergarten to junior high school teachers can also take part in art competitions such as painting, batik, and singing organized by the Education Office.
"For this singing competition, the participants will be accompanied directly by a band group whose personnel all work as teachers in the city of Surabaya," said Supomo.
Supomo said the teachers who won the competition would receive an award directly from the Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini, at the peak of the Teachers' Day commemoration event which is planned to be held on November 25, 2020 at the Surabaya City Hall.
