Officially Opened, Eight Women's Soccer Teams Join The 2022 DKI Jakarta Governor's Cup

JAKARTA - A total of eight women's soccer teams will compete in the 2022 DKI Jakarta Governor's Cup which is officially opened at the Pancoran Soccer Field (PSF), Jakarta, Friday 10 June. Of these, three participants are clubs from outside Jakarta, namely, Arema FC Women (Malang), Akademi Persib Putri (Bandung), and Putri Surakarta FC (Solo). The rest are teams from the capital city, namely Rocket FC, UKI Jakarta, Putri BMIFA, Pro Direck Ladies FC, and Putri Naga Negeri Jakarta SC. The eight teams are divided into two groups and will compete on June 10-18. DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said this event was a form of appreciation especially for women who chose to develop their potential in the field of soccer. "We provide equal opportunities. That's why this tournament was held. and can become Indonesia's mainstay athlete," Anies said in a written statement, when opening the 2022 DKI Jakarta Governor's Cup at the Pancoran Soccer Field, Friday 10 June. On the same occasion, the Indonesian Women's Football Association (ASBWI) also appreciated the initiative from PSF because providing opportunities for women to develop in the sport of soccer. At the opening of the 2022 DKI Jakarta Governor's Cup, the ASBWI board of directors attended, such as Monica Desideria (Vice Chairperson), Hatir Sata Tarigan, and Viola Kurniawati (ASBWI Executive Committee).

According to Monica, the 2022 DKI Jakarta Governor's Cup is an extraordinary step in the development of women's soccer. ASBWI also hopes that this tournament can advance women's football, especially to strengthen the Indonesian national team. PSF is very concerned about the development of women's football. Then they contacted us as the Indonesian Women's Football Association and we collaborated," she said. "We hope that from all walks of life together, we will advance women's football and become a high ranking player in the world because there are still opportunities," added Monica. The PSF chairman also said that women's football must get support from many parties so that it can develop further. “We want to help the federation promote Indonesian women's football. Hopefully with this tournament it can be realized," said Gede Widiade.
