Riau Islands Task Force: 5 Regencies And Cities Zero Cases, Only 6 Covid-19 Patients

KEPRI - The Riau Islands Province COVID-19 Task Force (Kepri) noted that five districts and cities in the region had zero active cases of COVID-19.

The Daily Head of the Riau Islands COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Adi Prihantara, said districts and cities with zero active cases of COVID-19 were Lingga Regency, Anambas Islands Regency, Natuna Regency, Bintan Regency and Tanjungpinang.

"There are three COVID-19 patients in Batam and three other patients in Karimun Regency," said the Riau Islands Regional Secretary in Tanjungpinang City, quoted from Antara, Friday, June 10.

Adi said that the Indonesian COVID-19 Task Force had designated Lingga as a Green Zone for about a month. Anambas was designated a Green Zone about two weeks ago.

There are only six active cases in the area after one new case was added in Batam City.

"Five other areas in Riau Islands are still in the yellow zone or the risk of transmission is low," he said.

Adi appealed to the Riau Islands community to implement health protocols, although currently the transmission of COVID-19 is under control. A number of provinces in Indonesia since the past two years have shown that the addition of new cases is quite significant, so it needs to be watched out for.

"The mobility of the population between regions and between regions is opened so that it has the potential to increase new cases of COVID-19 if people do not implement health protocols," he said.

Adi invites the public to adopt a healthy lifestyle, and support the vaccination program. The achievements of the COVID-19 vaccination in Riau Islands, especially the booster doses, have not been significant, even though they are given free of charge to the public.

Until now, the achievement of vaccination for the first dose reached 1,764,237 people or 97.87 percent, the second dose was 1,519,444 people or 84.29 people, and the third dose or booster was 620,422 people or 45.18 percent.
