All CCTVs Burned, The Police Had A Difficulty Uncovering The AGO Fire Case

JAKARTA - The Head of the Police Center for the Police, Brig. Gen. Ahmad Haydar, said that he had experienced problems in revealing the cause of the fire at the Attorney General's Office (AGO) building. This is because all CCTVs on the 6th floor were burnt.

"Indeed, our CCTV is very minimal, because all CCTV were burned," said Haydar to reporters, Jumar, October 23.

However, Haydar emphasized that his party still has several pieces of evidence to reveal the criminal case. One of them is the testimony of 64 people who have been questioned.

"The witness' testimony is sufficient in the sense that there is a negligence factor here, so we have not found any deliberate factor," said Haydar.

In addition, to strengthen the testimony of the witnesses who have been pocketed, investigators carry out six crime scenes (TKP). The result was that Puslabfor investigated some of the remaining fires.

"We have conducted several crime scenes, conducted case titles. So from the Labfor we found some charcoal from the ground floor to the 6th floor," he said.

In addition, the Director of General Crimes (Dirtipidum) of the National Police Brigadier General Ferdy Sambo said that the discovery of the cause of the fire was also based on the recognition of five construction workers. They claimed to smoke in the hall where there were several flammable objects.

"There is (confession from the suspect, ed). From the statements they were confronted with, and other witnesses," he said

Previously, Ferdy said that the fire that burned the AGO building came from cigarette coals that were dumped by construction workers into polybags.

Initially, the suspects who renovated the Personnel Bureau hall collected the rubbish from their work. Then, the garbage is put into three polybags or large plastic bags. Including a cigarette tip that is probably still slightly lit.

Then the suspects left the hall. They came down from the 6th floor of the AGO building.

With the embers in the polybag, it burns other rubbish. A large fire appeared and burned the objects around it.

In the end, an even bigger fire burned several parts of the AGO building.

In this case the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit named eight suspects. Five of them are construction workers.

The five construction workers have the initials T, H, S, K, and IS. They were named suspects for violating the no smoking rule in the personnel bureau hall.

While the other three namely, UAM as the foreman, R who is the Director of PT ARM and the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of the Attorney General's Office, NH.

The determination of the suspect against UAM was reasoned because they did not supervise the five craftsmen while they were working. Meanwhile, R and NH were named suspects for making an agreement to use a dash cleaner cleaning fluid which is said to accelerate the combustion process.

The suspects were charged under Article 188 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 and Article 56 of the Criminal Code with the threat of 5 years in prison.
