Welcoming The Long Holiday At The End Of October, 622 Thousand Vehicles Will Leave Jakarta!
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) estimates that the number of vehicles leaving Jakarta on the long holiday at the end of October will reach 622,039 vehicles. This prediction figure is up 21.77 percent compared to the normal situation.
Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) Budi Setiyadi said the distribution of homecoming traffic is divided into three, namely 28.32 percent to the West, 23.51 percent to the south or locally, and 48.17 percent to the east.
"The movement of the community is expected to be on Tuesday, October 27 when they return from work and the return flow will begin to appear on Saturday and peak on Sunday. This is what we are anticipating. Indeed, the time is very short, the time is not that long. So that people can go and return at the same time," he said, in video conference, Friday, October 23.
To prevent the build-up of passengers, Budi said that his party would cooperate with the traffic corridors and police. He said there were several strategies that would be carried out to smoothen traffic flow, especially on toll roads.
The first strategy is to limit the operation of goods cars during the long holiday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW Joint Leave on October 28 to 30, 2020.
"The operational restriction is only carried out on the Jakarta-Cikampek-Palimanan (Cipali) Toll Road and this is the result of an agreement with stakeholders," he said.
For this reason, his party has issued a Circular of the Director General of Hubdat Number: SE 22 / AJ.201 / DRJD / 2020 dated 22 October 2020 concerning the Operational Limitation of Goods Transportation.
Budi said that his party will also impose operational restrictions on goods heading out of Jakarta which will take effect from October 27 at 12.00 WIB to October 28 2020 at 14.00 WIB on the Jakarta-Cikampek-Palimanan Toll Road.
Furthermore, operational restrictions on goods cars entering Jakarta will take effect on October 31, 2020 at 20.00 WIB to November 2, 2020 at 08.00 WIB on the Jakarta-Cikampek-Palimanan Toll Road.
"The restrictions are made especially for goods cars that do not carry strategic goods. We predict that the peak flow of vehicles will occur on the night of October 27 and October 28, while the peak flow will occur on November 1," he said.
According to Budi, the restriction of freight cars on the toll road actually does not really have an effect on efforts to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, but it is more important to avoid traffic congestion on the toll road.
"The Directorate General of Land Transportation is ready to secure and we have prepared the COVID-19 health protocol. So we are ready, the personnel are ready, then the strategy with the traffic corridors is also ready," he said.
