The Ministry Of Finance Saves IDR 612 Billion From Implementing New Work Styles During The Pandemic

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance is said to have succeeded in making budget savings of up to hundreds of billions through the implementation of the new way of working (NWOW) during the 2020 to 2022 pandemic.

This was stated directly by the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani during a working meeting with Commission XI of the DPR.

"We achieved Rp612.45 billion in efficiency in bureaucratic spending for the 2020 to 2022 fiscal years because we are adapting to change this way of working, this is because it was a new way of working and controlling bureaucratic spending," he said in an official statement, Thursday, June 9.

According to the Minister of Finance, during the pandemic, meetings and meetings are conducted online so that efficiency can be achieved up to Rp. 161.7 billion. In addition, the use of technology applications has an impact on employee efficiency of Rp132.72 billion.

"The consolidation of ICT (information and communication technology) spending at the Ministry of Finance has resulted in an optimization of the budget to close to IDR 70 billion," he said.

Then, the pandemic also encourages the acceleration of the implementation of future workspaces. Since being implemented in 2021, this policy has had a positive impact on the efficiency of work space use and a decrease in the need for office building rentals by Rp14.35 billion.

"We are now doing a share service for payroll in a centralized manner so that the cost efficiency for managing personnel expenditures can reach Rp9.46 billion," he said.

Lastly, the Minister of Finance revealed that the Ministry of Finance implements a policy on the priority scale of budget allocations, especially capital expenditures.

Priority for capital expenditure is more directed at the fulfillment of strategic ICT, multi-year contracts, and capital expenditures that support the implementation of main tasks and functions. Through this policy, the budget allocation can be more targeted and in accordance with the needs," concluded the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
