Luhut Says Proposed Rp
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan issued an idea for the entrance ticket to Borobudur Temple to be Rp. 750 thousand. He said the ticket pricing was based on an in-depth study.
"So regarding Borobudur, we made a comprehensive study with UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) there, and the figures came out. But because of the noise, we postponed it," said Luhut in a Working Meeting with the DPR RI Budget Agency in Jakarta, Thursday 9 June quoted from Antara.
According to him, Borobudur has experienced a reduction in altitude and damage so that the number of visitors will be limited to no more than 1,200 people per day as recommended by UNESCO.
With the opening of the toll road that will cross the Borobudur area in the future, Luhut estimates that around 26 million road users will pass and have the potential to visit Borobudur.
"So with us opening the toll road now, it will bring 26 million people in one year, how many million can enter Borobudur," he said.
Currently, homestays in the area around Borobudur have returned to being filled with tourists with the reopening of tourism after the spread of COVID-19 has reduced.
Luhut also emphasized that the determination of the Borobudur entrance ticket had considered these various possibilities, as well as being carried out to meet the needs of revitalizing the cultural heritage.
The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment also has a function to coordinate the tourism sector, so that Coordinating Minister Luhut is involved in determining the price of Borobudur temple entrance tickets.
In addition to the layout, the government will also address the problem of garbage piling up in the Borobudur area.
"In Borobudur, when I went 35 meters, there was already garbage in Borobudur. And it gave a smell to Borobudur," he said.
