Barcelona Aims For Gerard Moreno If Failed To Get Lewandowski, The Price Is IDR 622 Billion But Has A Release Clause Of IDR 1.5 Trillion
JAKARTA - Barcelona are targeting Villarreal striker Gerard Moreno if they fail to sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski in the summer transfer window.
Lewandowski himself has expressed his intention to leave Munich and choose Barcelona as his next club.
However, Bayern have made it clear that they do not want to let the Pole go in this transfer window and will, if necessary, try to get Lewandowski to terminate his contract at the Allianz Arena, which runs out in June 2023.
Quoted by Antara from Football Espana, this condition made Barcelona think of other alternatives and the choice fell to Gerard Moreno as a suitable striker to fill the position of spearheading the Blaugrana.
This season Moreno has been a key part of Villarreal, who are seventh in La Liga and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League before being knocked out by Liverpool.
Villarreal are reportedly willing to release Moreno at a price of 40 million euros (Rp622 billion) because the Spaniard still has a contract until June 2027 with The Yellow Submarine.
The price is equivalent to that prepared to bring in Lewandowski from Bayern.
But Moreno is known to have signed a new contract with Villarreal in August last year accompanied by a sell clause of 100 million euros (Rp 1.5 trillion).
This season Moreno appeared in 27 games for Villarreal, scoring 13 goals and providing six assists.
