The construction of the Kendari Bay Bridge was carried out with an implementation period of five years in multiyears starting from 2015 to 2020 and has a maintenance period of three years.

The Kendari Bay Bridge has a building length with a total width of 1,348 meters where the bridge has four lanes and has a median and sidewalk with a total bridge width of 20 meters.

President Jokowi said that the presence of the Kendari Bay Bridge in Southeast Sulawesi Province will have a positive impact on the development of Kendari City, especially in the southern part of the city. With the construction of the Kendari Bay Bridge, it will provide many benefits for the surrounding community, especially to increase the connectivity of interactions between regions.

This is useful in the context of the process of accelerating the development of the Kendari City area. Furthermore, this bridge can cut the travel time from around 30 minutes to 3-5 minutes from Kota Lama to Poasia District.

It is hoped that the bridge connecting the bay will become a new icon in South Sulawesi Province. Not only that, the Kendari Bay Bridge is also expected to be the pride of the Indonesian people and be able to provide benefits to the Indonesian people, especially the people in Southeast Sulawesi Province.

"But I am sure that the length of time for the construction and the amount of funds required to build this bridge will be proportional to the benefits that will be felt by the community," said President Joko Widodo in his remarks at the inauguration ceremony.

PTPP's President Director, Novel Arsyad, revealed that the bridge that crosses Kendari Bay also supports the development of the Kendari New Port Industrial Area and can support the acceleration of marine tourism so that it can increase the surrounding economic growth and create new jobs.

"The company is pleased to continue to be trusted by the Ministry of PUPR to build the Kendari Bay Bridge and complete the construction on time. The company hopes to continue to participate and be trusted by the government to work on infrastructure projects throughout Indonesia," said Novel Arsyad.
