Just Making His Debut With Chelsea Last Week, Hakim Ziyech Did Not Hide His Ambition To Win Trophies

JAKARTA - Hakim Ziyech revealed the reasons for his move to Chelsea from Ajax which was officially announced before the 2019/20 season was completed.

Manager Frank Lampard and the pattern of play adopted by the Chelsea legend, Ziyech cited as one of the main reasons he left the Dutch giants.

"We chatted on the phone and the way Lampard spoke about football was the most important reason for me at that time," said Ziyech as quoted by Antara, Friday, October 23.

"When I came from Ajax, he talked back about his ideas. From then on, it was clear to me and how much he trusted me," he added.

Ziyech started the season from the stands due to an injury and only made his debut last week as a substitute when Chelsea were held to a draw at Southampton 3-3.

The Moroccan national team star also has almost half an hour left when he comes on for Mason Mount in the Champions League Group E opener against Sevilla on Tuesday, October 20.

Ziyech, who helped Ajax win the Eredivisie and KNVB Beker doubles in the 2018/19 season, did not hide his ambition to win a trophy with Chelsea.

He believes this can be achieved by the presence of bright talents such as Kai Havertz and Timo Werner who arrived with him in the transfer market yesterday, adding to the strength of Chelsea, which already has Christian Pulisic.

"Kai and Timo are two great talents and have proven that in the past, and Christian Pulisic is one of the greatest talents, an incredible winger!" he said.

"It's great for me to be able to work with them and looking forward to being able to perform fully on the pitch and do our best together. We want to win trophies, look good and show beautiful football," concluded Ziyech.

Chelsea are scheduled to travel to Old Trafford against Manchester United in the sixth week of the Premier League on Saturday.
