After The Formula E Race, The Transjakarta Electric Bus Is Back On The Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang Route

JAKARTA - After the Formula E event a few days ago, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has again added to the operation of the Transjakarta electric bus with the non-BRT Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang bus route.

The operation of the three electric buses of the Zhongtong, Skywell, and Golden Dragon brands is still in the pilot stage. Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that the release of the three electric buses would add to the operation of the 30 electric buses.

"For now, what is being tested is non-BRT. This means that the test route has been determined from Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang via Tebet. Completing the two operational routes as well as non-BRT from Blok M-Senen 16 units and Tanah Abang "Block M is 11 units operational," said Syafrin at the Transjakarta depot in Kampung Rambutan, East Jakarta, Wednesday, June 8.

In this electric bus trial, PT Transjakarta will monitor the operations of three brand holder agents (APM) for three months. After the test results meet the standards, a large number of electric buses will be procured through an auction process.

Syafrin hopes that other APM will also be interested in cooperating in the procurement of electric buses with this trial.

"With 3 APM conducting trials, we hope that more APM-APM will participate in realizing the Jakarta program in order to accelerate the implementation of electric vehicles, especially battery-based electric buses," said Syafrin.

In this regard, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan said that the operation of electric buses in Jakarta was included in a historic period for the transportation system. This was said by Anies when he inaugurated dozens of electric buses with the Senayan-Senen, Tanah Abang-Senen, Blok M-Tanah Abang, and Ragunan-Blok M routes.

"Today is a historic day for the transportation system in Jakarta because today is the official start of electric-based vehicles for public mobility in the capital city," said Anies in the Monas area, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, March 8.

Anies views that Jakarta is facing two challenges regarding mobility, namely air pollution and congestion. These two challenges are caused by the high number of motorized vehicles passing through the capital city.

Therefore, the provision of electric buses is an effort to control the high rate of air pollution and reduce the use of private vehicles that cause congestion.

"The solution that we are trying to offer to the community is to facilitate public transportation, build an extensive public transportation system and generally electric-based vehicles," said Anies.
