Impact Of Central Policy, Kapuas Hulu Regency Government Of West Kalimantan Will Lose 2,000 Contract Workers
KAPUAS HULU - The district government (Pemkab) of Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan will lose at least 2,000 contract workers due to the central government's policy to abolish honorary contract workers in government agencies.
"We quite object to the policy of eliminating contract workers, because the Kapuas Hulu Regency Government is greatly helped by the presence of contract workers, especially education and health workers," said Kapuas Hulu Regional Secretary Mohd Zaini in Putussibau Kapuas Hulu, Antara, Wednesday, June 8.
The abolition of honorary non-ASN and Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) is based on the Decree of the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform of the Republic of Indonesia dated 31 May 2022, number B/185/M.SM.02.03/2022, related to employment status at central and local government agencies.
Zaini said that the plan to abolish contract workers will have an impact on increasing the number of unemployed in the future and will also affect services in local governments, especially for contract workers in the administration and education staff and health workers.
According to him, the total number of contract workers in Kapuas Hulu including education and health contract workers is approximately 2,000 people.
"If the abolition of contract workers really takes place, the workload of ASN will be heavier and the number of unemployed in Kapuas Hulu will increase," he said.
Zaini said that the Kapuas Hulu Regency Government had tried and provided support to the West Kalimantan Provincial Government over the objection to the plan to abolish contract workers who were sent to the central government.
Even so, said Zaini, all decisions rest with the central government in the hope that there will be a policy from the center so that contract workers can still be employed in helping the wheels of government in the regions.
Zaini explained, from the central government's policy regarding the elimination of contract workers who are still allowed, namely drivers and security guards.
"Essentially, we object to the abolition of the contract workers, because the Kapuas Hulu Regency Government is in dire need of contract workers, even Kapuas Hulu still lacks educators and health workers," he said.
