Fighting Again, Brad Pitt Accuses Angelina Jolie Of Losing Their Wine Business
JAKARTA - After separating, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are again at odds. Brad Pitt is now filing a lawsuit against Angelina Jolie about their wine business. The 58-year-old actor claims Jolie intends to damage his reputation by selling half of the stake in the wine business.
The lawsuit, which was brought before the court, marks the latest chapter in a bitter legal battle between the former couple who had filed for divorce in 2016.
Earlier in October, Jolie sold her stake to Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of Russian-born conglomerate Yuri Shefler's Stoli Group.
Chateau Miraval is a home and winery located in the south of France. Chateau Miraval was bought by Pitt and Jolie when they were still a couple, even the location was used as a place to hold their wedding.
Pitt sued in February, saying they had agreed never to sell their business without each other's consent and accusing Jolie of seeking unseen profits.
In amended lawsuit documents seen by AFP, Pitt's lawyers argued that Jolie sought to harm Pitt through the sale of the shares and described Shefler as "a stranger with toxic associations and intentions".
Documents received by a Los Angeles court on Friday, June 3, also allege Shefler had personal and professional relationships with people in Vladimir Putin's circle.
Shefler himself is known as an outspoken critic of Putin and the Latvia-based conglomerate Stoli Group.
"Since Russia's February 2022 invasion of Ukraine, insurance company Miraval has asked for assurances that Shefler is not allied with Putin and that affiliation with Stoli will not pose a commercial risk," the document said.
In March or after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Shelfer issued a statement saying he had been exiled from Russia since 2002 for his opposition to Putin and changing the name of his company to "solidarity with Ukraine". On the other hand, a recent lawsuit from Pitt says Stoli vodka is synonymous with Russia.
The lawsuit also lists Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as being part of Shefler's network of associates who could threaten Miraval's reputation.
Meanwhile, neither the Stoli Group nor Jolie responded to requests for comment from AFP.
Once the most famous couple in Tinseltown, Pitt and Jolie first got together after playing a role in "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" (2005). Previously, Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston. Last July after the divorce process, Jolie obtained the right to care for and care for their children.
