Police: Khilafatul Muslimin Spreads Fake News That Has The Potential To Make Up

JAKARTA - The National Police said that the leaflets distributed by the Khilafatul Muslimin group during a convoy in Brebes, Central Java, contained fake news with a high potential to cause trouble. In fact, it can trigger treason.

"Those who are suspected of containing false or uncertain news that cause chaos in the community and potentially treason," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, to reporters, Wednesday, June 8.

Leaflets distributed on the road in Keboledan Village, Wanasari, Brebes, on January 29, contained an invitation to the surrounding community to follow the caliphate ideology.

Thus, the actions of the Khilafatul Muslimin group are considered contrary to Pancasila.

"It is known that the convoy distributed brochures or leaflets about an invitation to Muslims, especially the Brebes district to follow the caliphate ideology," said Dedi

In addition, a similar action also took place in the Cakung area, East Jakarta. In fact, in the convoy, members of the Khilafatul Muslimin group waved flags and carried posters that read 'Welcome the rise of the Khilafah Islamiyyah'.

The suspicion of a criminal act of spreading false news was even stronger because it was found that this group had a website and bulletin. In its content, they stated that Pancasila was not appropriate and that only the caliphate could prosper the earth and prosper the people.

On that basis, four people from Khilafatul Muslimin were arrested. Three of them GZ, DS, and AS were arrested in Central Java.

Meanwhile, Abdul Qadir Hasan Baraja was arrested by the Polda Metro Jaya team in Lampung, on Tuesday, June 7.

"This Khilafatul Muslimin activity is purely against the law, we need to emphasize that no one can violate the law in this country, that's why a few moments ago the Metro Jaya Police Chief formed a team to carry out an investigation, collect evidence, then carry out a case and today made an attempt to forcefully arrest him in this country. Bandar Lampung," said Dedi.

Meanwhile, in this case, Abdul Qadir Hasan Baraja and three other suspects are suspected of under Article 14 and/or Article 15 of Law No. 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Law Regulations and/or Article 82 A in conjunction with Article 59 of Law No. 16 of 2017 concerning Stipulation of Perpu No. 2 of 2017 concerning Amendments to Law Number 17 of 2013 concerning Community Organizations.
