Tokopedia And BRI Collaboration Is Assessed To Strengthen The GoTo Ecosystem
JAKARTA - Business expert and Managing Partner of Inventure Yuswohady assesses that the collaboration between Tokopedia and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk in presenting digital financial services in the form of a Tokopedia Card credit card will have a positive impact on business and strengthen the ecosystem of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia as the parent company.
Currently, Tokopedia has a very large user base which can be a channel for BRI to market its products. On the other hand, Tokopedia gets additional payment methods for its users which can increase transactions in e-commerce because it becomes easier for consumers to shop for goods with higher value.
"The purpose of this collaboration is to strengthen the ecosystem and this collaboration is a win-win solution for all parties. Likewise, when Tokopedia and Gojek combine to become GoTo, where one controls the transportation business and the other in e-commerce, it becomes an ecosystem collaboration," said Yuswohady in his statement, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, June 8.
Thus, he continued, a consumer-centric business will be built, where all consumer needs can be met on one platform. With this ecosystem, Tokopedia can enter any business.
With the Tokopedia Card, he said, it is hoped that it will provide convenience to Tokopedia users, not only in shopping, but also in submitting credit card applications and monitoring their use.
"So at that time, start-ups did 'burn money', an investment in building patterns, building ecosystems, completing services and the consumer base. So now they just have to harvest what they have built," he said.
Previously, the Co-Founder and Director of Tokopedia, Leontinus Alpha Edison, said that the presence of the Tokopedia Card would complement existing payment systems, such as GoPay. People now prefer non-cash payments, one of which is through a credit card. "The credit card user's favorite is because of the ease of installments," he said.
With the gradual payment through the Tokopedia Card, it will also make it easier for consumers to manage their expenses. It is hoped that this collaboration with BRI will be beneficial for Tokopedia in increasing consumer loyalty in shopping on its platform.
Increased loyalty and consumer base will make Tokopedia more efficient in attracting visitors and increasing transactions on its platform.
Based on data from the online shopping aggregator site, iPrice, the total visitors of Tokopedia in January-March 2022 reached 157 million people, making local e-commerce the most popular online shopping store in Indonesia during the first quarter of 2022.
President Director of PT Visa Worldwide Indonesia, Riko Abdurrahman said, based on Visa's latest Consumer Payment Attitude Study of 1,000 respondents in Indonesia, it shows that 7 out of 10 consumers have used an application or website to shop for the first time since the pandemic.
The study data also shows an increase in consumers using credit cards for shopping, both online and face-to-face using the contactless feature.
"The presence of the Tokopedia Card is a real effort for Tokopedia, BRI, and Visa to jointly support the government's mission towards a cashless society," said Riko.
