DPR-Government Passes PKPU For 75 Days Official Campaign Period, Promulgated No Later Than June 10
JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives and the government have officially approved the draft stages and schedule for the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).
This approval was taken after Commission II of the DPR RI and the government and election organizers held a working meeting today, Tuesday, June 7.
"The Indonesian House of Representatives Commission II together with the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) approved the Draft General Election Commission (PKPU) Regulation on the Stages and Schedule of the 2024 General Elections," read the conclusion of the working meeting read by the Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission II Ahmad Doli Kurnia on Tuesday, 7 June.
Once approved, the PKPU will soon be promulgated. Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari said the legislation would be passed this week.
"No later than Friday, it will be promulgated on June 10, 2022," said Hasyim.
The following are the stages of the election described by the KPU in the meeting:
1. Program and Budget Planning and Preparation of Regulations for the Implementation of Elections from June 14, 2022-14 June 2024 (732 days)
2. Updating of Voter Data and Compilation of Voter List from 14 October 2022-21 June 2023 (251 days)
3. Registration and Verification of Election Contestants from 29 July 2022-13 December 2022 (138 days)
4. Determination of Election Contestants on December 14, 2022
5. Determination of the Number of Seats and Determination of Electoral Districts from 14 October 2022-9 February 2023 (119 days)
6. Nomination of President and Vice President as well as Members of DPR, DPD, Provincial DPRD, and Regency/Municipal DPRD
a. DPD members starting December 6, 2022-25 November 2023 (355 days)
b. Member of DPR, Provincial DPRD, Regency/City DPRD from 24 April 2023-25 November 2023 (216 days)
c. President and Vice President from 19 October 2023-25 November 2023 (38 days)
7. Election campaign period from 28 November 2023 to 10 February 2024 (75 days)
8. Quiet Period from 11 February 2024-13 February 2024
9. Voting and Counting
a. Voting: February 14, 2024
b. Vote Count: February 14, 2024
c. Recapitulation of Vote Count Results: 15 February 2024-20 March 2024
10. Determination of Election Results
- No PHPU: No later than 3 days after notification from MK
- There is a PHPU: no later than 3 days after the Constitutional Court's decision
11. Oath/Promise of the President and Vice President as well as Members of DPR, DPD, Provincial DPRD, and Regency/Municipal DPRD
a. Regency/City DPRD: Adjusted to the End of Term of Office of each Member of Regency/City DPRD
b. Provincial DPRD: Adjusted to the End of Term of Office of each Provincial DPRD Member
c. DPR and DPD: October 1, 2024
