KPK Continues To Investigate Alleged Corruption In Formula E, Criminal Events Still Wanted
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues to investigate allegations of corruption related to the implementation of Formula E in Jakarta. This step was taken to find a criminal element by clarifying a number of related parties in the international racing event.
"We often say that because this is a process to find out if there is a criminal incident, we certainly collect information from parties who are summoned for questioning and clarification," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, to reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 7th.
He explained that there was already some information and data obtained by investigators. Furthermore, the existing material will be analyzed to conclude whether or not there is a criminal incident.
However, Ali said that his party could not provide details about what information had been obtained from the investigation process. However, the KPK ensures that all existing developments will be conveyed.
"We will later analyze what kind of further analysis is, whether the statements of one party are related to another, then the other evidence that we currently have is analyzed, and whether it can be concluded that there is a criminal act of corruption and there are people who can be legally accounted for. Of course we're going there," he explained.
"At this time, we can't convey it in full. Later we will definitely convey the development," added Ali.
It is known that the KPK has asked several officials in DKI Jakarta for clarification regarding the Formula E racing event. They are the Head of the DKI Jakarta Inspectorate, Syaefulloh Hidayat; former Indonesian Ambassador to the United States, Dino Pati Djalal; The chairman and deputy chairman of Commission E of the DKI DPRD are Iman Satria and Anggara Wicitra.
In addition, the KPK has also asked for information from the Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi. After being questioned, he said he had explained several things to investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Including, regarding the loan of IDR 180 billion by Dispora DKI Jakarta to pay the commitment fee to Formula E Operations (FEO). However, the loan, said Prasetyo, turned out to be done before the regulation on the budget for the implementation of Formula E was issued by the DKI DPRD.
"Yes, there is approval for the plan, but regarding budgeting, it will be discussed in the budget agency. Now in the discussion of the budget agency, before it becomes a regional regulation, borrow the Dispora from Bank DKI," Prasetyo told reporters.
"No (knowing about borrowing money, ed), we don't know. All the budget problems are those who make it," he added.
In fact, as a complement to his statement, Prasetyo at that time brought a blue folder containing a number of documents. One of them was a letter from the Dispora which was then answered by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan with Governor's Instruction Number 77 of 2019 concerning Support in Preparation for the Implementation of Formula E Activities in 2020.
