Aru Maluku Prosecutor's Office Names 2 Corruption Suspects For Construction Of Karaway Health Center

AMBON - The District Attorney for the Aru Islands, Maluku, named RB and IJS as suspects in corruption cases and budget irregularities for the construction of the Karaway Health Center, Aru Tengah Timur District for the 2018 Fiscal Year, worth IDR 5.785 billion.

"There is also a state financial loss in this project of IDR 443.2 million," said Wahyudi Kareba, Head of the Maluku Attorney General's Office for Legal Information and Public Relations in Ambon, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 7.

RB is the official commitment maker in the project, while IJS is the third party provider of goods from PT Pratama Godean Jaya.

According to him, the determination of the two suspects was carried out after the investigative team led by the Head of the Aru Special Investigations Division, Sesca Taberima, conducted a case and had fulfilled two pieces of evidence that were lacking in volume in the progress of the construction of the Karaway Health Center.

On suspicion of committing a criminal act of corruption, RB and IJS were asked to be held criminally responsible.

"The suspects RB and IJS are suspected of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) Juncto Article 18 subsidiary Article 3 Juncto Article 18 UU RI Number 31 of 1999 as amended and added to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption Juncto Article 55 paragraph (1 ) 1 of the Criminal Code.

RB is now being held for the next 20 days at the Aru Islands Police Rutan, while IJS is not being detained because he is a convict who is currently serving a criminal sentence at the Class III Dobo Prison in a different case.

During the investigation into the construction project of the Karaway Health Center, investigators also confiscated Rp. 150 million and a certificate of ownership in the form of land to restore state losses which would later be proven in court.
