TNI Members Shoot Brother-in-law At Wedding Reception In Manokwari Kadispenad Affirms Transparent Legal Process
JAKARTA - Head of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad) Brigadier General Tatang Subarna confirmed that the shooting case allegedly involving members of the Indonesian Army at a wedding reception in Manokwari, West Papua, Saturday (4/6), will be dealt with in accordance with military and transparent legal procedures.
"The legal mechanism in the TNI AD will be carried out according to procedures and transparently, meaning that it will not be covered up. We are following the direction of Mr. Kasad regarding law enforcement in the military," Tatang said in a written release from the Dispenad quoted by Antara, Monday, June 6.
As previously emphasized by the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Dudung Abdurachman as the builder of the Indonesian Army's forces, Tatang said that the Army Chief of Staff would be responsible for law enforcement against individual TNI AD soldiers who violated the provisions and regulations.
The settlement of the case will be carried out based on the legal mechanism in force in the military justice system.
Tatang explained that the Military Police Detachment of Kodam (Denpomdam) XVIII/Kasuari immediately acted quickly after receiving a report about a shooting incident that was allegedly carried out by the AFTJ Sergeant, injuring two victims, namely his own brother-in-law with the initials RIB and a member of the TNI AD Sergeant B.
With this quick action, he added, the alleged perpetrators could be immediately secured for legal processing.
"Currently, the alleged perpetrator is undergoing legal proceedings by the Kasuari Pomdam. An initial examination has been carried out on the person concerned and several witnesses. Until now, development is still being carried out to collect evidence. " he explained.
The shooting was triggered by the act of nudged each other in a dangdut music entertainment event that was held after the reception. According to Tatang, the incident developed into a commotion that continued to heat up until a shooting took place.
"The RIB victim died at the Prafi Health Center, Manokwari, West Papua, from a gunshot wound to the left chest. Meanwhile, Sergeant B, who suffered a gunshot wound to the left abdomen, is currently being treated at the Naval Hospital (RSAL). ) Manokwari," he said.
