Reducing Carbon Emissions, Yogyakarta Presidential Palace Uses PLN's REC Service
JAKARTA - PLN and the Yogyakarta Presidential Palace signed an agreement to purchase a New Renewable Energy (EBT) certificate or Renewable Energy Certificate (REC).
The Yogyakarta Presidential Palace approved the purchase of REC in accordance with electricity usage per month for 24 months, until April 2024.
REC is one of PLN's green product innovations to make it easier for customers to gain recognition for transparent, accountable, and internationally recognized use of NRE, without having to incur investment costs for infrastructure development.
Head of the Yogyakarta Presidential Palace, Deni Mulyana, explained that his party supports the use of environmentally friendly energy in line with government programs.
"The Yogyakarta Presidential Palace also supports green energy, in accordance with the government's program towards Indonesia Net Zero Emission by 2060," Deni said in a statement to the media, Monday, June 6.
Meanwhile, General Manager of PLN Central Java & DI Yogyakarta Main Distribution Unit, M Irwansyah Putra said through REC, PLN supports the use of clean and environmentally friendly energy.
"REC is a PLN service in the form of recognition of the use of renewable energy that is transparent, accountable and internationally recognized, where one REC unit is equivalent to one megawatt hour (MWh)," he explained.
With the purchase of REC, the Yogyakarta Presidential Palace will also contribute to reducing carbon emissions and encouraging the growth of NRE power plants.
In the Yogyakarta area, there are 4 customers who have purchased REC. In addition to the Yogyakarta Presidential Palace, other customers from the industrial sector are PT Ameya Livingstyle Indonesia, PT Anggun Kreasi Mandiri and PT Busana Remaja Indonesia.
"We are ready to serve the needs of corporate and individual customers who want to contribute to preserving the environment," he concluded.
The use of PLN's REC is increasingly in demand by customers from the industrial sector to the government.
PLN continues to be committed to supporting the development of EBT in Indonesia, one of which is by meeting customer needs for the use of environmentally friendly energy through REC products.
