RIAU - Acting Head of the Riau Province Education Office, M Job Kurniawan revealed that the graduation of students taking school level exams at public, private and integrated Vocational High Schools (SMK) for the 2021/2022 academic year in Riau reached 99.67 percent.

"Alhamdulillah, the graduation rate of SMK students in Riau, whether it's public, private and integrated SMKs is 99.67 percent," said Kurniawan in Pekanbaru, quoted from Antara, Monday, June 6.

Accompanied by the Head of the Vocational School, Yusri Rasul, it was stated that in the 2020/2021 academic year there were 32,692 SMK students who took the exam.

Of that number, 32,609 participants passed the exam or 99.67 percent of students passed the exam.

Yusri explained that the percentage of graduation for SMK students per district/city was Pekanbaru 99.26 percent, Dumai 100 percent, Kampar 99.92 percent, Indragiri Hulu 99.88 percent, Indragiri Hilir 99.34 percent, Bengkalis 99.63 percent, Pelalawan 99 ,68 percent.

Furthermore, Rokan Hulu 99.52 percent, Rokan Hilir 100 percent, Siak 99.79 percent, Kuantan Singingi 99.20 percent, and Meranti Islands 99.82 percent.

"If we look at the existing data, the percentage of the highest SMK graduation rates is in two regions, namely Dumai and Rokan Hilir with a 100 percent graduation rate," he said.

He said that 83 SMK students who did not pass were spread over 10 districts/cities including 18 Pekanbaru students, 2 Kampar students, 3 students from Indragiri Hulu, 11 students from Indragiri Hilir and 9 students from Bengkalis. Pelalawan 6 students, Rokan Hulu 15 students, Siak 5 students, Kuantan Singingi 13 students, and Meranti Islands 1, or a total of 83 students did not pass.

"So for this year the graduation of students is determined by the school. The problem is that there are students who don't graduate, it's usually not the school's fault, but because students, for example, students get married, students don't go to school because they work and so on," he said.
