The Price For The Borobudur Temple Ride Is Rp. 750 Thousand, Students Are Only Rp. 5 Thousand
JAKARTA - PT Taman Wisata Candi (TWC) Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko (Persero) provide special access for students to ride the Borobudur Temple with a ticket for Rp. 5,000 for educational purposes.
The President Director of the Borobudur Temple, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko (Persero) Tourism Parks, Edy Setijono, quoted Anntara, Sunday, June 5, explaining that students get a quota of 20 to 25 percent of the total quota of 1,200 people per day who are allowed to ride the Borobudur Temple.
"We also have an obligation for education, therefore the education quota is set at 20 percent of the 1,200 quota. We will still determine later, we are still discussing whether 20 percent or 25 percent. Because we still have to consider this later for students," said Eddy.
Previously, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan announced that the government would limit the number of people allowed to climb the Borobudur Temple to 1,200 people per day. It aims solely for the sake of preserving the historical and cultural wealth of the archipelago.
Based on the consideration of the quota per day, the ticket price for climbing Borobudur Temple was set at IDR 750 thousand for local tourists and 100 US dollars (approximately IDR 1.4 million) for foreign tourists. While the ticket price to enter the temple area is still IDR 50 thousand per person.
"As a form of our alignment with the world of education, for students it is only set at Rp. 5 thousand. This is the answer to why it is expensive, as if it is commercial. No, it is not commercial, the reasons are different. Therefore for students it is only Rp. 5 thousand," said Edy .
Edy explained that tickets to ride Borobudur Temple can only be made through reservations. He explained that there is no time limit for reservations before a visit as long as the quota is still available.
Meanwhile, tickets to go up to the temple for Rp. 5 thousand per student, can only be ordered by reservation through the school. For individuals who want to order tickets to go up to the temple, even though they are students, domestic tourists will still be charged a ticket price of IDR 750 thousand.
"And that's all a reservation system. I'm sure that later the reservation will be full, so later if for example today it's full, then tomorrow, if it's full tomorrow, yes the next day. Because we are strict with a quota of 1,200 per day," he said.
Edy explained that the restrictions on tourists who are allowed to climb the Borobudur Temple are aimed at conservation or protecting the temple from damage caused by tourist visits.
Based on the records of TWC Borobudur, the average number of tourists visiting Borobudur Temple reaches 10 thousand people per day. Therefore restrictions were imposed with only 1,200 people allowed to climb the temple per day.
