The result leaves Ukrainian club Shakhtar temporarily top of Group B with three points. Meanwhile, Real is currently slumped at the bottom of the group standings.

Real tried to make a move from the start. Marco Asensio tried to push into the penalty box and fired a shot which goalkeeper Anatoli Trubin could still block.

Shakhtar responded immediately. Their first threat was presented through a long ball from Marcos Antonio, who was briefly controlled by Marlos and then released a shot that was held by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

The deadlock finally broke midway through the first half. Viktor Korniienko darted into the Real box, before rolling the ball at Tete, who grabbed it with a shot to find the home side.

Real immediately attempted to score an equalizer. But Luka Jovic's header from Marcelo's pass was easily caught by keeper Trubin.

A few moments later, it was Real's goal who again conceded. Starting with a shot from Tete which Courtois can block, Varane's attempt to throw the ball ends with a shot that sends the ball into the net itself.

Real suffering increases just before halftime. Solomon's heel shot was maximized by Solomon to strike a shot into Real's goal. Shakhtar closed the first half with a 3-0 lead.

The home team's game improved in the second half. Asensio fired a shot that goalkeeper Shakhtar was able to keep hold of before they were able to reduce the deficit with Modric's long-range shot.

Shakhtar looked as if they were about to restore their three-goal lead when Tete grabbed Korniienko's cross, but the ball failed to nestle into the hosts' goal.

It was substitute Real Vinicius who was able to make an immediate impact. He stole the ball from the control of Marlos, moved into the penalty box, and fired a shot into Shakhtar's goal.

The two teams were fighting each other. Real goalkeeper conceded again when Tete took the opportunity he had. But he was already in an offside position.
