PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan PAN Hopes KIB Brings 3 Pairs Of Candidates In The 2024 Presidential Election: So That There Is No Polarization
JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Mandate Party, Zulkifli Hasan, hopes that the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) consisting of the Golkar, PAN and PPP parties can nominate a minimum of three pairs of candidates in the 2024 presidential election to avoid polarization.
"Therefore (to avoid the emergence of polarization), we hope that at KIB, we encourage at least three candidates in the upcoming presidential election," said Zulhas, Zulkifli Hasan's nickname, when delivering a speech at the National Gathering of the United Indonesia Coalition in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Sunday 5 June.
According to him, based on the history of presidential elections in Indonesia from 2004 to 2019, the existence of only two pairs of candidates in the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections was the beginning of the emergence of polarization in society.
"We see that one of the causes of polarization in our society is the holding of the presidential election. In 2004, the presidential election was participated by five candidates, Indonesia was safe, there were no problems. In 2009 there were three candidates, Indonesia was safe, there were no problems. In 2014 two pairs and 2019 two pairs, there are starting to have problems," said Zulhas.
Therefore, he believes that in the 2024 presidential election, there will be at least three pairs of candidates promoted by KIB. Furthermore, he explained, ending polarization is the spirit that underlies the unity of Golkar, PAN, and the United Development Party (PPP) in the United Indonesia Coalition.
"We see that politics should be a way to achieve the common good, to realize the ideals of the nation and state in accordance with Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, not to divide friends and foes, to beat us against them, and to attack each other," he said. .
Zulhas sees that the community is already bored with the narrative of division and provocation. They, he said, actually want unity so that the energy of the Indonesian nation can be devoted to real thoughts and work to advance the nation.
On the same occasion, he said that for the United Indonesia Coalition, all parties have the same opportunity to be promoted as presidential or vice presidential candidates.
He conveyed that KIB must become a shady banyan tree, a place of shelter for anyone who has the love and desire to advance Indonesia, as the symbol of the Golkar Party.
Then, KIB will shine the sun that always gives to anyone without discrimination, according to the main spirit of PAN.
"Of course, it is based on political morals guided by religious values symbolized by the PPP symbol as baitullah," he added.
