Discussion Of The Job Creation Law Is Deemed Not Transparent, Luhut: We Will Open Everything!

JAKARTA - The government plans to create a website to accommodate public input in drafting derivative regulations for the Omnibus Law on Employment Creation. This step is at the same time to answer public opinion that thinks that the discussion of the broomstick law is not transparent.

The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the website or website will be posted at the Ministry of Finance and the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy.

"We open it all so that no one feels that his opinion has not been heard," he said at the Indonesian Listed Companies Association (AEI) event entitled 'Outlook 2021', Wednesday, October 21.

According to Luhut, from the start the government was actually very open in the process of discussing the Job Creation Law. All parties were consulted and asked for input in the discussion of the law. However, because there are still many who question transparency, the government will open as widely as possible the process of drafting the derivative regulations of the Law.

Luhut said, later the public or anyone with an interest could propose or correct a derivative policy on the website that will be provided by the government.

"I think it will be better. Later they can correct or provide input on the website," he explained.

In addition, Luhut emphasized that parties with political lust should refrain and think that mass gathering activities such as the recent demonstrations have the potential to add to a new cluster of COVID-19 transmission.

"I frankly disagree with the demonstration. Do not let people who have political lust (provoke it), they should think if what is done can cause new clusters of transmission," he said.

Luhut also reminded that all countries are currently in difficult conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The economy in almost all countries contracted. In these conditions, all parties should work hand in hand to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

"It should be compact and don't blame each other," he said.

On the same occasion, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto explained, based on a study by a survey institute in the Netherlands, Indonesia is said to be the country with the most complicated rules in the world.

Because of that basis, said Airlangga, the government is rushing to streamline all regulations, through the Omnibus Law on Job Creation. He has said several times that the purpose of this law is to attract investment so that job opportunities are wide open.

"So that Indonesia is considered the most complicated country in the world based on a survey institute conducted by an institution in the Netherlands," he said.

Job Creation Law Praised by International Financial Institutions

Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Rosan P. Roeslani said the evidence of the Employment Creation Law was useful was the many compliments that international institutions gave to the government.

The international institutions in question are the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Moody's to the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This world institution called the Job Creation Law an extraordinary reform undertaken by the Indonesian government.

In fact, said Rosan, these international institutions also said that the impact of the Job Creation Law would be very large, especially for domestic economic growth.

"The step taken is an external structural reform which will have a huge impact on our growth in the future, and it will run well," he said.

Rosan assessed that the Job Creation Law could provide a strong foundation for the Indonesian economy in the future. Not only that, the economy will also grow in quality and sustainably in the future.

On the other hand, he deeply regrets, there are still many people who reject the Job Creation Law. Because in fact, the Job Creation Law was made for the benefit of all parties, including the Indonesian people.

"But again, the key is that we have to carry out proper socialization and education, so that society as a whole knows for sure the contents of the Omnibus Law for the benefit of all of us to the Indonesian people," he explained.
