Drainage Is The Cause Of Flooding In Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, DPUTR Promises To Immediately Fix

KALTIM - Drainage in Tanah Grogot, Paser Regency, has recently been one of the triggers for flooding in the area. The local Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (DPUTR) is currently drawing up a plan to address this cause.

"Currently, the plan is 70 percent and is still being verified," said Head of Cipta Karya, DPUTR, Paser Asnawi in Tanah Grogot, East Kalimantan (Kaltim), Friday, June 3.

Previously, on April 21, 2022, the capital city of Paser Regency, Tanah Grogot, was flooded due to heavy rains. A number of residential areas were submerged. The flood was considered the worst that had ever occurred in Tanah Grogot City.

According to Asnawi, from the team's review in the field where the flooding occurred, recommendations were obtained that were used as guidelines for handling drainage at seven points.

"We will normalize the drainage at seven points," he said.

The seven drainage locations include drainage at Jalan Ahmad Yani, Ahmad Dahlan, Modang, Urip Sumoharjo, Kartini, and drainage at Jalan Citra Jalan Ahmad Yani to Anden Oko.

There are four drainage points of concern, namely the drainage on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Sudirman, Modang, and Anden Oko, because the conditions are very poor.

The drainage conditions on Modang and Sudirman roads have soil accumulation or sedimentation. Both locations have quite severe sedimentation compared to other places.

"Sedimentation drainage on Jalan Sudirman is thick enough that it cannot accommodate water discharge when it rains," he said.

Crossing drainage or the construction of drainage that crosses the road, said Asnawi, had been carried out through the East Kalimantan Provincial Financial Aid in 2021.

He explained that currently the condition of the drainage Crossing on Jalan Ahmad Yani to Senaken is not functioning because the water delivery from Jone and the Seed Center on Jalan Piere Tandean is larger, so the water cannot be accommodated in the drainage.

DPUTR Paser, said Asnawi, is very careful in overcoming the problem of drainage sedimentation in urban areas so that the handling is right on target and effective.

“The normalization of drainage must be precise. For example, where is the stored water other than on the Anden Oko road. We hope that the water can be directed directly to a large drainage near SDN 002 Tanah Grogot. because from there the water goes directly to the river,” he explained.

Asnawi added that the effectiveness of drainage management will be the DPUTR principle because the available budget is quite limited, only IDR 4 billion more.

"If the planning is complete, then the project can be auctioned off and the normalization of drainage can be carried out immediately," he said.
