When Erick Thohir Refuses To Sponsor Formula E, Sri Mulyani Goes Forward To Provide This Tax Facility
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance through the Directorate General of Customs and Excise reports that the Formula E event which will be held this weekend has received a number of tax facilities.
Director of Communications and Customs Service User Guidance Nirwala Dwi Heryanto said his party enforced special provisions using the ATA Carnet scheme.
"For the entry of racing cars and other equipment, temporary import facilities are given using the ATA Carnet which is stipulated in the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) 228/PMK.04/2014," he told VOI when contacted, Friday, June 3.
According to Nirwala, imported goods can be issued as temporary imports by using the carnet as adopted by Indonesia.
"The same goes for export goods that are intended to be re-imported within a certain period of time," he said.
However, Nirwala ensured that his party would continue to carry out inspection procedures on all incoming goods related to the Formula E car racing event.
"In addition, racing cars that will compete will also receive physical inspection facilities outside the customs area, namely the Jakarta International Stadium, so that it is very helpful and makes it easier for the Formula E team in moving and monitoring goods," explained Sri Mulyani's subordinate.
However, Nirwala did not provide detailed information on how much tax fees were exempted.
For information, the ATA Carnet is a tax system that was agreed by many countries in the ATA Convention in Turkey in 1963.
This scheme allows temporary licensing of goods that change locations without the need for guarantees, taxes or other customs duties.
There are three main categories of goods that are included in the ATA Carnet scheme, namely sample goods and advertising materials, professional equipment, and goods with the purpose of exhibitions, performances or similar events.
These items are then granted a tax exemption for one year.
If it exceeds the specified time limit, the withdrawal of the levy will immediately be carried out in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
For information, the Formula E event is planned to take place on Saturday, June 4 at the Ancol Circuit, North Jakarta.
This event had attracted attention because it was considered to have minimal support from the central government.
Recently, the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, was reluctant to provide information regarding the lack of state companies participating in the electric car racing arena.
"No comment," said Erick as previously reported by the editor.
Facing this situation, the Special Staff of the Minister of SOEs, Arya Sinulingga, spoke up.
According to him, the support of state-owned companies in international events requires an in-depth study.
Arya said that the proposal must have been received by the Ministry of SOEs at least three months to a year before the event.
"This review process varies between SOEs in accordance with the regulations in each company," explained Arya.
"So the statement is not true (does not support Formula E), because there is no policy to prevent sponsorship of this event. In fact, Indosat, which is partly owned by BUMN, has become one of the companies that support the event," he explained.
