Ethics Commission Hearing Brigadier General EP In LGBT Cases, Police: Disgraceful Behavior

JAKARTA - The National Police revealed that Brigadier General EP who was involved in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and / or transgender (LGBT) deviations had passed the trial process of the Police Professional Code of Ethics (KKEP) on January 31, 2020. As a result, Brigadier General EP was declared to have committed a despicable act.

"The result of the decision was that first the offender was declared a disgraceful behavior," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono to reporters, Wednesday, October 21.

During the trial, Brigadier General EP has been given several sanctions. First, he must apologize verbally in court and to the Chief of the Police and other parties who have been injured.

Then, he must also participate in coaching activities. The goal is to form a better personality.

"It is the obligation of the offender to participate in mental, personality, psychiatric, religious and professional training for one month," said Awi.

Finally, Brigadier General EP was also removed from his position as one of the top officials in the Police's human resources (HR). Then transferred to another position that is demotion for three years.

But when asked about the initial involvement of Brigadier General EP with LGBT, Awi refused to explain in detail. He said that in this matter the most important thing was that the National Police had taken firm action.

"Of course this is an evaluation of incidents related to LGBT issues within the National Police," he said.

Previously, the Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, said that the Police's Professional and Security Division (Propam) had already given sanctions in the form of non-work to Brigadier General EP. The sanctions were imposed in connection with the alleged involvement of Lesbi, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) groups.

"Nonjob (no position until retirement, red)," said Argo to reporters, Wednesday, October 21.

Argo said, imposing sanctions on Brigadier General EP was not recently carried out. Brigjen EP was sanctioned after the Propam Division completed its investigations in 2019.

"A year ago (sanctions), it's been a long time," he said.

The issue of LGBT within the TNI and Polri evaporated after the Chief of the Military Chamber of the Supreme Court (MA) Major General Purnawirawan Burhan Dahlan conveyed about the existence of LGBT groups in the TNI-Polri environment.
